    Day Five

When making important decisions, consider the following questions:
    1. Is It Consistent With The Word of God?
    2. Is This A Wise Decision?
    3. Can I Honestly Ask God To Enable Me To Achieve This?
    4. Do I Have A Genuine Peace About This?
    5. Does This Fit Who I Am As A Follower Of Jesus?
    6. Does This Fit God’s Overall Plan For My Life?
    7. Will This Decision Honor God?

    Colossians 3:15
And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

Look to the Scriptures for guidance. It is THE Authority for guidance. Look for similar situations and apply the principles. Use common sense. How is the decision going to affect the future, your family, etc? But allow the Holy Spirit to lead you. When we have important decisions in our life, we must prayerfully consider these questions. But once you believe you know God’s mind on the matter, there is a final question to ask:
Now that I know His will, am I willing to do it?

sad soldier of love album review

Read Isaiah 25:6-9 and consider what the ultimate benefit of waiting on God is…
6And in this mountain shall the LORD of hosts make unto all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined.
7And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread over all nations.
8He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it.
9And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.

Why Is It Wise To Wait?

    October 9th, 2008

    Day Four

    Psalm 69:3,13
3I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried: mine eyes fail while I wait for my God.
13But as for me, my prayer is unto thee, O LORD, in an acceptable time: O God, in the multitude of thy mercy hear me, in the truth of thy salvation.

Why Is It Wise To Wait on the Lord?
    1. To Receive God’s Clear Direction For Your Life
    2. To Keep In Step With God’s Timing
    3. To Allow God The Proper Time To Prepare You For His Answer
    4. To Strengthen Your Faith In Him
    5. To Allow God To Sift Through Your Motives To Reveal Your Desires

  • Psalm 40:1-3
1I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
2He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
3And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.

    Day Three

    Begin With Prayer
    Philemon 4:6

I thank my God, making mention of thee always in my prayers,
Communication is always important, especially with God.

Acknowledge Your Need & The Burden You Are Carrying
    Lamentations 3:18-26

18And I said, My strength and my hope is perished from the LORD:
19Remembering mine affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the gall.
20My soul hath them still in remembrance, and is humbled in me.
21This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope.
22It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
23They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
24The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.
25The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.
26It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.

    Claim God’s Promises
Claiming God’s promises and remaining committed to the course He has given you is a powerful way to face any tribulation or change.

    Seek God’s Direction
Through His Word and prayer, we can seek God’s direction. Make sure your motives are pure and within God’s will.

    Be Willing To Wait
What was the greater good God had in mind with Lazarus’s death?

Thank God in Advance For His Provision
Regardless of our own hopes and expectation.

When God Doesn’t Seem to Answer

  • Sometimes Christians feel like God is distant and uninterested in our concerns and circumstances. How should we handle those times when we feel a silence from God and think he is not going to answer our prayers?

Read John 11 about Mary, Martha, and Lazarus

    What was the need?
    How did Jesus initially respond?
How might Martha and Mary interpreted Jesus’ delay?

When we are waiting on God’s response or direction, we often make things worse by doing the following:

    1. Denial
It’s easy just to tell yourself there’s not a problem rather than face reality.
    2. Avoidance
Avoidance works for a short time but it prevents us from dealing with the situation.
    3. Projection
Blaming others rather than facing the situation and turning to God for a response.
    4. Lying
This only results in hurting others and ourselves.
    5. Giving In and Giving Up
Trust God to the end and you will see His goodness become a reality. What emotions do you think Mary and Martha experienced during their four day way for Jesus? and after the wait?
    6. Conformity
We will conform rather than stand for what we know is right.

Learning the Art of Active Waiting

    October 6th, 2008

    Day One:

Waiting is an essential part of living the Christian life. Being patient is difficult, but the results can be disastrous. What can happen if we don’t wait on the Lord:

We get out of God’s will.
We delay God’s planned blessing for us.
We bring pain and suffering upon others and ourselves

    1. Waiting does not mean being stagnant. It just means to pause…and wait for further instruction.
    2. God instructs His people to wait.
    Psalm 27:14

Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
    Psalm 37:4-7
4Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
5Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
6And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.
7Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

And she'd been secretly giving Liz and Brock her goodies to take home with them.

  • 3. Waiting should be marked by silence.
    Psalm 62:5-6

5My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.
6He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved.

    4. God will strengthen you through your waiting.
    Isaiah 40:31

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

    5. Waiting does not involve looking around to see what others are doing.

Read Micah 7:1-8. What was Micah’s…
    Dilemma?
    Determination?
    Destiny?
